About the Senators:

Senator Sean Bowie (D – LD18)

Committees: Appropriations, Commerce, Finance

Top legislative priorities are education funding for public schools and universities and the state response to the COVID-19 crisis. Senator Bowie has been recognized as one of the most influential Democratic lawmakers for his pragmatic approach to policy making. He has received strong support from the business community due his bipartisan approach and collaborative attitude. 

Senator J.D. Mesnard (R – LD17)

Committees: Commerce-Chairman; Finance; Government

Senator Mesnard is a veteran in the policy making arena and formally served as Speaker of the House of Representatives during his last term at the House. During his early career he served as policy staffer for the Senate, which allowed him to bring a thorough perspective to policy development process. He is considered an expect in tax and finance policy and a state budget guru. Over the years Sen. Mesnard has been recognized as a strong leader for small businesses and economic development spearheading tax policies that can attract more jobs to Arizona.
